BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The New York Mets made Ken Oberkfell manager of the minor league Buffalo Bisons on Friday.
Oberkfell was the Mets' first base coach and manager of the Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs last season. He was reassigned off the Mets' staff in October.
The Bisons plan to introduce the 52-year-old former major leaguer in Buffalo on Tuesday.
Oberkfell is entering his 13th season as a minor league manager and fifth as head of the Mets' Triple-A team. His 16-year major league career included eight seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Mets signed a two-year player development contract with Buffalo in September, after breaking ties with New Orleans following a two-year stint.
The Bisons had been a Cleveland affiliate since 1995.
