HOUSTON -- Outfielder Reggie Abercrombie and reliever Clay Hensley were among five players who agreed Monday to minor league contracts with the Houston Astros.
Outfielder John Gall, and infielders Mark Saccomanno and Jason Smith also agreed to deals.
The 27-year-old Abercrombie hit .309 with two home runs and five RBI in 34 games with the Astros last season. He is a career .223 hitter in 180 games with Houston and the Florida Marlins.
Hensley, 29, went 1-2 with a 5.31 ERA in 32 games last season with the San Diego Padres. He is 15-18 with a 4.09 career ERA in 106 games over four seasons with the Padres.
The 30-year-old Gall hit .312 with 12 home runs and 76 RBI last season at Triple-A Albuquerque, while Saccomanno, 28, hit a home run in his first big league at-bat with Houston last season. He hit .297 with 27 homers and 84 RBI in 137 games for Triple-A Round Rock last season.
Smith, 31, hit .214 in 22 games with the Kansas City Royals last year and .253 with seven triples and 62 RBI at Triple-A Omaha last season.
