Reds OF Bruce leaves game with broken right wrist

NEW YORK -- Cincinnati Reds right fielder Jay Bruce has been forced to leave the game against the New York Mets after breaking his right wrist while trying to make a sliding catch in the first inning.

The Reds said Saturday night that Bruce will fly back to Cincinnati on Sunday to be examined.

With runners on first and second, Bruce rushed in trying to grab David Wright's blooper to right. He got his glove on the ball, but it came out as his wrist folded back awkwardly.

Bruce grabbed at his wrist, and manager Dusty Baker and a trainer came out of the dugout after Wright's hit loaded the bases. The Citi Field crowd groaned as the replay was shown on televisions around the ballpark.

Chris Dickerson replaced Bruce in right.
