Rockies promote four pitchers, one catcher from minors

DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies have added four right-handed pitchers and a catcher to the 40-man roster.

The Rockies now have 38 players on the roster with the additions Friday of pitchers Alberto Alburquerque, Edgmer Escalona, Juan Nicasio and Chaz Roe, along with catcher Michael McKenry.

All were in the minor leagues last season.

Rockies need pitchers
Good move by the Rockies to start building in the pitching ranks.They'll need to spend some money with some capable closers if they plan to really complete into post season. Could be another year or so before they really have that depth and keeping the other talent they need with a balance of young players and vets. The base of the team is ...(more)
