Blue Jays sign Bautista, McGowan, Gathright, Chavez
TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays have signed Jose Bautista to a one-year, $2.4 million deal.
The infielder-outfielder hit .235 for the Blue Jays last season with 13 home runs and 40 RBI.
The Jays also signed injured right-hander Dustin McGowan to a one-year, $500,000, contract on Sunday, as well as outfielder Joey Gathright and catcher Raul Chavez, who were both given minor league contracts.
McGowan missed last season recovering from shoulder and knee surgery.
Gathright split his season with the Chicago Cubs and Boston, averaging .267 in 37 games.
Chavez played 51 games with the Jays last season, batting .258 while hitting two homers and driving in 15 runs.
