Nix back with Reds in minor league contract, invited to camp

CINCINNATI -- Laynce Nix has rejoined the Cincinnati Reds, agreeing to a minor league contract.

The 29-year-old hit .239 with 15 homers and 46 RBI last season, his first with Cincinnati. He made 60 starts in left field and set a career high with 116 games.

Nix refused an outright assignment to the minor leagues on Nov. 20 and elected to become a free agent.

Nix was invited to major league spring training as part of Friday's agreement.
