Indians put Marte on DL for non-baseball medical issue

CBSSports.com wire reports

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians have put infielder Andy Marte on the 15-day disabled list with what the team called a non-baseball medical issue.

The Indians did not release details on Marte's condition. He was hitting .208 with a home run and seven RBI this season.

"It's not a long-term thing," Cleveland manager Manny Acta said before Saturday night's game in Baltimore. Acta said he expected Marte would be ready to play when he's eligible to be reactivated.

Outfielder Trevor Crowe was recalled from Triple-A Columbus and was set to play center field on Saturday. He was the Indians' first-round pick in the 2005 draft and played 68 games with Cleveland last year.

Crowe was batting .244 with one home run and 13 RBI with Columbus.
