Giants P Runzler to DL after getting hurt in first at-bat
WASHINGTON -- San Francisco Giants reliever Dan Runzler has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after dislocating his left knee cap during his first major league at-bat.
To replace him on the roster Friday, the Giants are recalling right-hander Joe Martinez from Triple-A Fresno.
Runzler was injured in the seventh inning of San Francisco's 9-3 victory at the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, when he swung and missed on a pitch from David Riske. Runzler fell backward to the ground, appearing to twist his left leg.
The rookie left-hander was credited with the win Thursday, and is 3-0 with a 3.30 ERA in 36 appearances this season.
