Yankees' Steinbrenner reportedly hospitalized in serious condition

New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner was taken to a Tampa, Fla.-area hospital Monday night and is in serious condition, the Tampa Tribune reported on its website Tuesday morning.

According to the Tribune report, emergency crews responded to Steinbrenner's Florida home Monday night and took the 80-year-old Boss to a hospital.

WABC-TV in New York is reporting that Steinbrenner suffered a massive heart attack and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.

Steinbrenner, who celebrated his 80th birthday on July 4, has owned the Yankees since 1973, during which time baseball's most decorated franchise has won seven World Series titles.
