Rangers' Guzman placed on 15-day DL with quad injury
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers have placed slumping second baseman Cristian Guzman on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps.
Guzman was in the Rangers original lineup for Saturday night's game with the Boston Red Sox, but he was replaced by Andres Blanco after Guzman informed manager Ron Washington of the injury.
The Rangers recalled right-hander Pedro Strop from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Guzman's roster spot, Strop's fourth stint with Texas this season.
Guzman is 3 for 34 since he was acquired in a trade with the Washington Nationals on July 31.
