ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers likely will use a three-man starting rotation in the playoffs, though the postseason availability of one of their setup relievers is more in doubt.
Frank Francisco was scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, but instead had his third MRI. The right-hander has been on the disabled list since Aug. 28 because of a muscle strain in his right side.
The Rangers are waiting for the MRI results before determining the next step for Francisco.
As for the starters, the Rangers plan to go with left-handers Cliff Lee and C.J. Wilson and right-hander Colby Lewis in the playoffs with Tommy Hunter likely working out of the bullpen. Manager Ron Washington says Hunter will work a game in relief this week.
