A's place McCarthy, Ross on disabled list

CBSSports.com wire reports

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland Athletics have placed right-handers Brandon McCarthy and Tyson Ross on the 15-day disabled list in the latest injury-related moves for their rotation.

The A's also optioned reliever Trystan Magnuson to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday. Right-handers Joey Devine and Fautino De Los Santos and lefty Jerry Blevins were recalled from Sacramento.

McCarthy has a stress fracture in his throwing shoulder that has sidelined him in the past. Ross left Thursday's game against the Twins with a strained left side after throwing seven pitches.

Ross had taken the spot in the rotation vacated by lefty Dallas Braden, who had season-ending shoulder surgery earlier this week.

Oakland was playing at the Giants on Friday night.
