Price out of All-Star Game, Beckett reportedly OK


New York Yankees reliever David Robertson will replace Tampa Bay Rays left-hander David Price on the American League All-Star team for Tuesday's game in Phoenix.

Price still will attend All-Star Game festivities but will be inactive because of turf toe on his left foot. Because Price was originally selected by manager Ron Washington of the Texas Rangers, Washington named his replacement.

Robertson is making hia first All-Star appearance. He entered Sunday at 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA and 56 strikeouts in his 35.1 innings pitched.

Meanwhile, ESPN reported that Josh Beckett of the Boston Red Sox would be available for he AL All-Stars. Beckett suffered a hyperextended left knee and left his start Friday after only five innings. But Red Sox skipper Terry Francona said Sunday that Beckett was OK to pitch Tuesday.
