Oakland's game at home against Texas on Friday just got a bit more interesting, even though the A's are 13 games behind the Rangers.
On Wednesday, Rangers starter C.J. Wilson told ESPN Dallas that the mound in Oakland "sucks, and the fans suck." He also said that A's players don't like him, and he wouldn't consider signing with Oakland as a free agent.
The A's have never indicated any interest in Wilson, and considering that the left-hander twice this year has directed disparaging comments Oakland's way, it's unlikely the team would much want him.
In May, Wilson accused the A's of playing "lawyer ball," trying to get borderline calls from umpires by complaining.
Wilson's former Texas teammate, Brandon McCarthy, will be starting for Oakland on Friday.
"Hopefully, we go out and do what we're supposed to do and stick up for ourselves and our fans," McCarthy told the San Francisco Chronicle. "That's the best way to go about it."
Wilson never has won a game at the Coliseum.
