Yankees catcher Cervelli out indefinitely with concussion

  •

SEATTLE -- New York Yankees backup catcher Francisco Cervelli is out indefinitely with a concussion.

The Yankees say Cervelli was examined Monday in New York by Dr. Kirk Roberts, a neurologist specializing in concussion syndromes. The team says Cervelli was diagnosed with a concussion, but MRI results were negative.

Cervelli is resting at home and there is no immediate timetable for his return. All baseball-related activities for him have been suspended, the team says.

Cervelli, banged up Thursday in a home-plate collision with Baltimore's Nick Markakis, is batting .266 with four homers and 22 RBIs.
