The Padres hope they found some punch for the middle of their lineup with the acquisition of 1B Yonder Alonso. They addressed their biggest bullpen need by acquiring RHP Huston Street from the Rockies as their closer after free agent RHP Heath Bell signed as a free agent with the Marlins.

MEDICAL WATCH:
--3B James Darnell (left shoulder separation) had surgery to tighten the capsule on Sept. 20. He will be ready for spring training.
--3B-2B Logan Forsythe had surgery on his left knee for a second straight season on Sept. 7. The Padres say he will be ready by spring training.
--RHP Dustin Moseley (left shoulder separations) had surgery on his non-throwing surgery Aug. 3 after it popped out of its socket for a second time. Moseley is expected to be ready by spring training.
--LHP Clayton Richard (left shoulder surgery in July 2011) is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.
