Mets ask Supreme Court for review of Madoff funds ruling
--Mets owners have asked the Supreme Court to review a federal appeals court ruling determining which of Bernard Madoff investors can recover losses from a special fund. As the old ruling stands, Mets parent company Sterling Equities is not eligible for recovery money.
--Former Mets shortstop Jose Reyes raised $10,200 by cutting his dreadlocks and selling them online through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. Reyes joined the Marlins as a free agent earlier this offseason.
--At a press conference in New York City, Mayor Michael Bloomberg laughed off speculation that he might consider buying the Mets. "Why anybody wants to own a sports team, I can't figure out," Bloomberg said.
--Former Rangers, Tigers, Cubs and Orioles broadcaster Josh Lewin will replace Wayne Hagin in the Mets' WFAN radio booth next season, according to published reports.
--Major League Baseball suspended Mets minor league pitcher Scott Moviel and catcher Dock Doyle 50 games each for positive drug tests, the second such infraction for each player.
