Rolen expects to be rollin' at the start of spring training

--3B Scott Rolen, coming off shoulder surgery, is expected to be 100 percent when spring starts. "I talked to his offseason trainer," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said. "He said Scott feels great. He's really hitting well."

--RHP Brett Tomko signed a minor league contract with the Reds. Tomko was drafted and developed by the Reds. He was treaded to Seattle in the Ken Griffey Jr. deal.

--LHP Aroldis Chapman reported early to camp and was throwing after being shut down during winter ball because of shoulder tightness. Chapman will prepare as a starter.

--SS Zack Cozart was working out and doing all baseball activity in Goodyear, Ariz., before camp opened. Cozart had Tommy John surgery on his left elbow last season.

--RHP Carlos Fisher, designated for assignment to clear a roster spot for Ryan Ludwick, cleared waivers and was re-signed to a minor league contract.

BY THE NUMBERS
Two -- That's how many save chances Ryan Madson blew in 34 opportunities last year. Francisco Cordero blew seven in 43 chances for the Reds.
