Murphy made his third straight start at second base in Friday night's 2-0 loss to the Nationals and will start all three games this weekend in Washington.
He went 2-for-9 with a home run in the three games.
"I think Murphy is doing a tremendous job. That's why I feel very comfortable with him out there," manager Ozzie Guillen said.
Guillen isn't expecting Murphy to replace Infante's bat. Infante is batting .333 with four homers and six RBI in nine games.
"I never ask our backup players to go out there and have (a) great game. If you have it, that's a plus," he said.
"But when you play once in a while, I'm not the type of manager expecting my backup guys to go out there and get five hits. If they do, great."
Infante has missed three straight games because of a tight left groin, which he tweaked this past Tuesday while running out a double.
He hopes to return Tuesday in New York.
"I want to come back 100 percent. We have a day off Monday. I think that'll be good for me," he said Friday.
