RHP Jhoulys Chacin was optioned to Class AAA Colorado Springs, the team announced two hours after the Rockies beat the Dodgers 8-5. The Rockies issued a press release announcing that a corresponding move would be made Friday when the Rockies next play. Chacin gave up 11 hits and seven runs in 4 2/3 innings to the Dodgers on Tuesday, putting the Rockies in a large early hole they nearly overcame before losing 7-6. In five starts, Chacin is 0-3 with a 7.20 ERA, allowing 31 hits and 15 walks with 22 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings. After starting last season 8-4 with a 2.71 ERA in 15 starts, Chacin has gone 3-11 with a 5.24 ERA in 21 starts.

Gonzalez came into the game 3-for-18 against Kershaw with one RBI, two walks and nine strikeouts. Gonzalez has hit five homers in six games on this homestand that concludes with a weekend series against the Braves.
--LHP Drew Pomeranz reached career highs when he threw 113 pitches in 6 2/3 innings in his eighth major league start, fourth this season. His previous highs were 5 2/3 innings on Sept. 17 and 100 pitches this season on April 15.
--RHP Rafael Betancourt blew his first save of the season after converting his first six save opportunities. With two out and a runner on first, manager Jim Tracy had Betancourt intentionally walk Matt Kemp. Dee Gordon, who had entered the game in the eighth, followed with a game-tying two-run double. It was just the second time in 11 appearances this season that Betancourt has been scored upon, the other being April 17 in his fifth outing of the season against the Padres. On the decision to intentionally walk with a runner on first to pitch to Gordon, manager Jim Tracy said, "If I had it to do over again because of the circumstances and the way their lineup was structured, I'd have done it again."
--LHP Rex Brothers gave up a single and double to the two batters he faced and blew a save in the eighth. It was his third blown save of the season and first since April 24 at Pittsburgh. Since that outing, Brothers had made four straight scoreless appearances covering 3 1/3 innings with no walks, six strikeouts and one hit allowed.
