--INF Brooks Conrad will come up from Class AAA Nashville before the Brewers' weekend series in San Francisco to replace injured 1B Mat Gamel (torn ACL). The last player cut in spring training, Conrad was hitting .400 with five home runs and 13 RBI at Nashville.
--LF Ryan Braun, who left the game Wednesday because of tightness in his left Achilles tendon, said he will have to wait to see if he'd be able to play Friday in San Francisco. The Brewers were off Thursday, giving Braun a needed day of rest.
--RF Corey Hart is one option to play first base after 1B Mat Gamel was lost because of an ACL tear in his right knee. Hart already has been working out a bit at first base.
--RHP Yovani Gallardo has struggled with command of his pitches in the first six starts of the season. In 32 2/3 innings, Gallardo has allowed 40 hits and 14 walks.
--2B Rickie Weeks has been making little impact in the leadoff spot, but manager Ron Roenicke said he is not ready to make a change yet. Weeks is batting .172 with a .306 on-base percentage.
