--OF Lucas Duda expects to return Friday after being out of the starting lineup the previous three games because of a bout of the flu. Duda pinch-hit in Tuesday's game but was a late scratch from Wednesday's starting lineup after manager Terry Collins didn't like what he saw during batting practice. Said Duda: "I'll be ready to go Friday, no doubt about it."
--RHP Manny Acosta has given up 11 runs over his last three outings, over a span of 3 2/3 innings. He has allowed 18 total runs on the season, after giving up 18 earned runs all of last year. "He's really trying too hard," Collins said. "He's overthrowing. Balls are in the middle of the plate."
--RHP D.J. Carrasco is scheduled to appear at a higher level of the minors after breezing through four rehab appearances with Class A St. Lucie. Carrasco, who has been sidelined since mid-March because of a sprained right ankle, has pitched six shutout innings for St. Lucie.
--RHP Jeremy Hefner is 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA over his last two starts for Triple-A Buffalo, with eight strikeouts and one walk. Hefner is the logical candidate to replace RHP Chris Schwinden in the rotation if the Mets decide to go that route.
--OF Scott Hairston started twice in Houston and finished 2-for-8 with a double, one RBI and a walk. Hairston is batting .348 with a .652 slugging percentage over his last six games, and could see additional playing time with the Mets facing left-handed starters Friday and Saturday.
BY THE NUMBERS
.495 -- 3B David Wright's on-base percentage through 22 games. Wright has played much of the season with a fractured right pinkie finger.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"I think their patience is kind of wearing a little bit with my performance. I've just got to keep my head on straight, and if I get another opportunity, go for it." --Schwinden on his 0-1 record and 11.25 ERA through two starts.
