Red Sox lefty Doubront to miss next start; Cook replacement wire reports

CLEVELAND -- Boston Red Sox left-hander Felix Doubront will miss his next turn in the rotation and right-hander Aaron Cook will start Wednesday against Baltimore.

Boston manager Bobby Valentine said Doubront, 0-3 in four games since July 18, likely will miss one start. Valentine thinks the time off will help the 24-year-old left-hander, whose velocity has been down recently. Doubront has pitched 122 2-3 innings this season after totaling 35 1-3 in the majors during his first two seasons with Boston.

Doubront is 10-6 with a 4.70 ERA in 22 starts. Cook is 3-5 with a 4.70 ERA in nine starts.
