MEDICAL WATCH:

--SS Troy Tulowitzki (strained left groin) went on the 15-day disabled list May 31. He did light running June 8, and took batting practice for the first time since he was injured May 30 and continued doing running drills. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Colorado Springs on June 13, but he left that game in the third inning. He underwent surgery June 20. He is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Aug. 24 at Class AA Tulsa and was expected to stay there through Aug. 27 when the Drillers complete a homestand and be re-evaluated Aug. 28 in Denver. Tulowitzki is scheduled to continue his rehab assignment with Class AAA Colorado Springs and hopes to rejoin the Rockies sometime in September.

--1B Jason Giambi (viral infection) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 21. He had been feeling rundown for three weeks. He was activated Sept. 1.

After throwing a bullpen session May 9 in San Diego, De La Rosa made a rehab start for Class AA Tulsa on May 12 but left after one inning with forearm tightness. His rehab start May 19 ended early after he again felt tightness in his arm. He began a new rehab assignment with Class AAA Colorado Springs on May 27 and then was shut down the weekend of June 2-3. An MRI found no structural damage. He threw a 45-pitch simulated game Sept. 1 and is scheduled to make a rehab start Sept. 6 for rookie-level Grand Junction (Colo.) in hopes he can pitch for the Rockies before the end of the season.
