--RHP Jered Weaver is scheduled to start the series opener against the Rangers in Anaheim on Tuesday. Weaver is 11-7 with a 3.64 ERA in 28 career starts against the Rangers. That includes an 8-0 record and a 2.16 ERA in Anaheim. He's 3-7 with a 5.05 ERA against the Rangers in Texas.

--OF/1B Mark Trumbo ended the longest homerless streak of his career (18 games) with a three-run home run Sunday in Kansas City. However, he struck out in his other three at-bats. He is batting .197 since July 18, and he has 19 strikeouts in his 37 at-bats in September.

--CF Mike Trout lost his lead in the AL batting race to Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera again Monday. Cabrera is batting .330 for the season -- .353 since the start of August. Trout is batting .329 -- .286 since the start of August.

--DH/1B Kendrys Morales is making a strong case for AL Comeback Player of the Year. After missing nearly two years following a traumatic ankle fracture, Morales is batting .279 with 20 home runs and 67 RBI in 121 games. The Angels' designated hitters (primarily Morales) are fourth in the American League with an .829 OPS this year.

--LHP Nick Maronde has emerged as a key situational reliever since his promotion from Class AA as a September call-up. Maronde has faced 16 batters in seven appearances, and he's walked two and allowed one hit while striking out six. Ten of the 16 batters have been left-handed.

BY THE NUMBERS
23-28 -- The Angels' record against the Rangers since the start of the 2010 season.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"It's been a tough go for a long time now. I'm not expecting one at-bat to get me out of anything. It's part of the grind, just trying to contribute where I can." -- OF/1B Mark Trumbo, after hitting a home run Sunday for the first time since Aug. 21.
