Headley falls one RBI behind Braun

--3B Chase Headley drove in his 109th run of the season Wednesday with his 29th double. But he fell one RBI behind Ryan Braun in the National League RBI race as Braun drove in two runs. The 109 RBI is the 10th-highest single-season total in Padres history.

--RHP Anthony Bass gave up a two-run homer to Matt Kemp on Wednesday. In six appearances since returning from the disabled list on Sept. 7, Bass has given up four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks in 8 1/3 innings over six appearances.

--RHP Nick Vincent worked 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief Wednesday to push his ERA back under two at 1.93. Since the All-Star break, Vincent has allowed one run on 10 hits and four walks in 17 1/3 innings over 18 appearances. He has 17 strikeouts.

--SS Everth Cabrera has hit safely in 13 of his last 17 games, hitting .323 (21-for-65) with 123 steals. But he has also made eight errors in those 17 games.

--RF Will Venable is hitting .346 (28-for-81) with runners in scoring position this season.

15 -- Games in the 153 that he's played that 3B Chase Headley hasn't reached base.
