Rangers may be without reliever Adams for playoffs

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Rangers reliever Mike Adams is out for the rest of the regular season and questionable for the playoffs because of a condition that causes numbness and tingling in the fingers.

Adams says he has been diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, which is caused by a bone in the upper body pressing against a nerve.

Adams won't fly with the team Sunday night for the final regular-season series at Oakland. He will remain in Texas to see more doctors and determine a course of action.

The right-hander, who is eligible for free agency after the season, allowed three home runs in his last appearance Thursday. He had allowed only one homer in his previous 60 appearances this season as the primary eighth-inning reliever for the AL West leaders.
