NEW YORK -- New York Mets third baseman Ty Wigginton was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday.
Wigginton fainted at home and felt dizzy at the ballpark. He was in NYU Medical Center after complaining during Wednesday night's game against Montreal.
"He looked pale and weak when he came to the ballpark and then he had dizzy spells during the game," manager Art Howe said.
Wigginton, who is batting .188 with two home runs and nine RBI, is expected to miss New York's road trip to Chicago, Los Angeles and San Diego.
The Mets recalled infielder Danny Garcia from Triple-A Norfolk to fill the roster spot.
Indians' Sabathia scratched
CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Indians ace C.C. Sabathia was removed from the lineup minutes before his scheduled start Thursday against Kansas City because of a sore left shoulder.
Pitching coach Carl Willis said Sabathia threw about 20 warmup pitches in the center-field bullpen when he felt some soreness while tossing a change-up.
"Hopefully it was a freaky, fluky thing," Willis said.
X-rays were taken of Sabathia, who entered the game 1-0 with a 1.71 ERA in three starts.

Esteban German was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento. Marco Scutaro, who started the first 14 games at second, was at shortstop for the second straight game.
Menechino began the season on the disabled list. He completed a rehabilitation assignment in the minors after straining his right calf during spring training.
