AL will face terrific trio of Thome-Griffey-Sosa in Home Run Derby

NEW YORK -- Philadelphia first baseman Jim Thome, Cincinnati outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. and the Chicago Cubs outfielder Sammy Sosa will represent the National League in next week's All-Star Home Run Derby.

New York Yankees first baseman Jason Giambi, Boston designated hitter David Ortiz and Baltimore first baseman Rafael Palmeiro will be among the American League players to participate in the competition next Monday night in Houston.

One additional player from each league will be picked, the commissioner's office said Wednesday.
