Ex-Phillies C Daulton arrested after traffic stop in Fla.

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Former All-Star catcher Darren Daulton has been arrested on a Sumter County warrant accusing him of missing a court hearing for a suspended driver's license charge.

The arrest came after Clearwater police made a traffic stop Sunday, police spokesman Wayne Shelor said Tuesday. After running Daulton's name through a computer, officers discovered Daulton was wanted in Sumter County.

He wasn't arrested until Monday at his Clearwater home because the warrant had to first be verified, Shelor said.

Sumter County sheriff's officials did not return a phone message Tuesday seeking details of the warrant.

Daulton was released Monday from the Pinellas County Jail on $3,050 bond. He did not have a listed telephone number and it was unknown if he had an attorney.

Daulton was arrested on a domestic battery charge last year, followed by a charge that he violated a domestic violence injunction. That charge was later dropped. He also was arrested in October on a charge he violated his probation on a Hillsborough County drunken driving charge earlier that year.

He also has been arrested on drunken driving charges in Hernando County in 2001 and in Pinellas County in 1988.

Daulton was a three-time All-Star catcher during a 14-year career, mostly with the Philadelphia Phillies.
