CHICAGO -- White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was back at the ballpark Wednesday after spending one night in a hospital because of a kidney stone.
Guillen passed the kidney stone during his team's 11-8 loss to Detroit on Tuesday night and was released from the hospital Wednesday morning.
"That was something I don't wish anybody has, even my worst enemy," Guillen said.
He was to skip Wednesday night's game against the Tigers to complete the two-game suspension he began serving Tuesday.
Guillen first felt pain on the flight back from Boston on Sunday night.
"It started coming from Boston, I was in the airplane and all of sudden I felt the pain," he said.
Guillen then experienced more intense pain about three hours before Tuesday's game while speaking to Bob Watson, vice president of on-field operations for major league baseball, about his suspension. The manager was urged to go to the hospital by team trainer Herm Schneider.
"I was talking with Mr. Watson and I started to feel the pain again and I went to Herm and I thought it was a muscle and he said the pain was too much and he sent me to the hospital to find out," Guillen said.
Guillen was suspended for two games by the commissioner's office for arguing during an Aug. 9 game against Cleveland. Guillen was ejected after the first inning for arguing with umpire Hunter Wendelstedt after Carlos Lee was called out trying to steal second base.
The manager disputed Wendelstedt's report to the commissioner's office.
Guillen's $1,000 fine will be held in abeyance pending further investigation, White Sox general manager Kenny Williams said.
