PHOENIX -- Free-agent outfielder Jeff DaVanon agreed Tuesday to a $525,000, one-year contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 32-year-old appeared in 108 games for the Los Angeles Angels last year and saw action at all three outfield positions. A switch-hitter, had a .231 batting average with two home runs and 15 RBI.
Los Angeles put DaVanon on waivers in mid-December.
DaVanon holds a conditional player option for 2007 that would be worth $700,000 if he has 90 active days on the major league roster this year, $900,000 if he has 120 active days, $1.1 million if he has 150 active days and $1.25 million if he has 180 active days.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Diamondbacks designated pitcher Michael Gosling for assignment. The Diamondbacks have 10 days to trade him, send him outright to the minor leagues or place him on waivers.
