Hamstring - Probable for Apr 24 (Updated - 4/23/17)
News
Smith (hamstring) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox.

Smith is still nursing a sore hamstring, but even if healthy, he likely would have sat out anyway Sunday with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez starting for the Red Sox. With Smith out in the series finale, Mark Trumbo will cover right field, opening up a spot in the lineup at designated hitter for Trey Mancini.

News
Gausman (1-2) was crushed over 5.1 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits (including three home runs) and three walks while striking out four in Sunday's loss to Boston.

The righty has had a rocky April and Sunday was no different. Coming off one of the worst outings of his career -- an eight-out appearance Tuesday in which he allowed eight earned runs to the Reds -- Gausman surrendered four runs in the first inning before capturing his first out. The 26-year-old did settle down after that, pitching three scoreless frames before Mitch Moreland went deep in the fifth. Gausman has just one quality start in his first five games, and owns a disgusting 6.4 K/9 and 5.63 BB/9 through 24 innings. He'll have to take on April once more when he starts versus the Yankees on Saturday.

Finger - Expected to be out until at least May 5 (Updated - 4/19/17)
News
Rickard (finger) will set out on a rehab assignment Monday, Brittney Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

He took a round of batting practice Saturday and his injured finger responded well to the added activity, which helped convince the coaching staff that he's ready to start a rehab assignment. Rickard will have up to 20 days on his rehab assignment before the Orioles activate him. That said, the Orioles' crowded outfield situation leaves Rickard with a murky outlook once he is ready return.

News
Hardy went 2-for-4 with a double and the O's 2-1 win in Thursday's road victory against the Reds.

The shortstop has an affection for playing on the road early in the 2017 season. Hardy is slashing .323/.323/.516 over eight away games, compared to a .125/.176/.125 line at Camden Yards. He's boosted his average 81 points over the last seven games by going 10-for-28 (.357) with three doubles and a home run.

News
Schoop went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during Saturday's win over Boston.

After turning in a solid campaign in 2016 (82 runs, 25 home runs, 82 RBI and a .267/.298/.454 slash line), Schoop is off to a nice start this season. He's remained an excellent contributor in the counting stats (10 runs, four homers and 10 RBI) and has shown improvement across his slash line with .291/.333/.564 marks. The keystone is a deep fantasy position, but Schoop has the upside to be a mid-tier option going forward.

Shoulder - Expected to be out until at least May 2 (Updated - 4/18/17)
News
Tillman's second rehab start with Double-A Bowie went off without a hitch Saturday, and he will make his next outing Thursday for High-A Frederick, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Tillman allowed three consecutive hits to open Saturday's game -- all against left-handed hitters. After having his fastball blasted over the right field fence in the second inning, Tillman settled in and retired 10 of the final 12 batters he faced. On a brighter note, the righty saw his fastball up a tick from his previous assignment, and appears to be on track to pitch for the Orioles in Boston on May 2.

News
Machado went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.

Slowly but surely, Machado is warming up after a miserable 7-for-44 (.159) start. The third baseman has put together a modest, yet encouraging, five-game hitting streak to bump his average above the Mendoza Line. Considering the All-Star is typically quick out of the gate, Machado's slow start to the 2017 campaign is a bit disconcerting for his overall projections. He's got a few advantageous matchups on tap for this week against the Rays and Yankees, so the opportunity exists to kick his season into high gear.

Brach pitched a perfect ninth inning to record his third save Friday against the Red Sox.

Brach had no trouble protecting a two-run lead, as he closed out his third game in as many nights. Despite not being officially named the closer, he appears to be a pretty safe bet to keep piling up the saves while Zach Britton (forearm) is on the disabled list.

News
Castillo is out of the liineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

Caleb Joseph will draw in behind the plate to catch the left-handed Jayson Aquino in place of Castillo. Saturday marks Castillo's second absence from the lineup in the last three games, and both of those absences have come when the Orioles had lefties on the mound. Still, Castillo's bat will keep him in the lineup over Joseph most days.

Forearm - Expected to be out until at least Apr 28 (Updated - 4/18/17)
News
Britton will play catch from 90 feet on Monday in his latest progression from a strained left forearm, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Britton's condition has improve to the point where he no longer feels discomfort, and an MRI on his elbow and arm didn't reveal any structural damage. The Orioles scheduled an appointment on Monday with a hand specialist as the "final piece," in manager Buck Showalter's words, before Britton is cleared to throw.

News
Aquino (1-0) allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two batters over six innings during Saturday's win over Boston.

Holding the Red Sox to two runs is impressive, but this was also just Aquino's third start above Double-A, so keeping expectations in check is advised. He's likely earned another start and lines up to face the Yankees next week, which will be another tough matchup.

News
Bundy (3-1) fired seven shutout innings on six hits and one walk while striking out three to earn the win Friday against the Red Sox.

Bundy was only given two runs offense of support, but it was plenty, as he scattered six singles in his outstanding performance. He's allowed one or fewer earned runs in three of his four starts and he's beginning to look like a potential breakout candidate, as he boasts a 1.37 ERA. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Rays.

News
Kim is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox.

Kim was curiously bypassed for a start Saturday with the Red Sox bringing a right-hander in Steven Wright to the hill, but it's less surprising that he's on the bench again Sunday with lefty Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound for the home team. Craig Gentry will get the starting nod in left field and should continue to eat up most of the at-bats against left-handed pitching.

News
Miley struck out 11 over eight superb innings against the Reds on Thursday night, allowing just one run on two hits and a walk, though he didn't receive a decision.

It's early, but Miley has been awfully hard to hit, compiling a stunning 24:8 K:BB while allowing only eight base knocks over his first 19 innings. Obviously, there's some BABIP luck at play there, but the advanced stats like this version of Miley; if he keeps striking batters out like he has in his last two starts, he could experience a lot of success. Of course, he is 30 years old and has never shown any sign of being this kind of stud pitcher, so don't plunge headlong in fantasy.

News
Mancini went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Saturday's win over Boston.

With a 1.183 OPS and eight home runs over 52 career plate appearances, Mancini is proving to be a strong virtual option when in the lineup. His production warrants more consistent at-bats, and he's already locked into the order against southpaws. Young hitters typically endure plenty of peaks and valleys while acclimatizing to the highest level, and an inconsistent role can exacerbate that, but Mancini is still an intriguing option for deep formats and daily contests.

News
Asher will head to the bullpen and will not start Saturday against the Red Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.

Despite registering a quality start in his only start of the season, Asher will head to the bullpen as Jayson Aquino gets the nod to start Saturday. He'll likely serve as a long reliever out of the bullpen for the time being, though the possibility of him making another spot start still remains.

Darren O'Day, #56

News
O'Day recorded his first save of the season during Saturday's win over Boston.

With Zach Britton (forearm) on the disabled list and Brad Brach having pitched in three straight games, recording saves in each, the Orioles turned to O'Day to finish off Saturday's game. As that pattern suggests, Brach is the pitcher to own right now, but it isn't out of the question to roster O'Day, either. Britton's return timetable is still uncertain, and Baltimore is off to a 12-4 start, so there should continue to be plenty of save opportunities to go around.
