News
Smith (hamstring) started in right field and went 2-for-3 in Saturday's spring training win over Minnesota.

Smith had been sidelined for much of the past two weeks with a hamstring injury, but it looks like he'll be ready for Opening Day. mith is expected to handle the larger side of a platoon in right field.

Shoulder - Questionable for start of season (Updated - 2/14/17)
News
Tillman (shoulder) resumed throwing Sunday, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxOnline.com reports.

Tillman received a cortisone shot last Sunday and took the week off to allow the shot to have its intended effect. Manager Buck Showalter said that the throwing session went well, and the veteran pitcher is expected to throw again Tuesday.

News
Brach extended his scoreless-innings streak to six while allowing a hit and striking out one in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays.

Brach has put together a strong spring, limiting opposing batters to a .182 BAA while posting a 7:1 K:BB through six appearances. The veteran reliever is coming off a career-best season in which he notched 24 holds and posted a 2.05 ERA to accompany a 1.04 WHIP. Brach's 10.5 K/9 in 2016 demonstrates his ability to provide value across many formats.

Jimenez dished four innings, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five Blue Jays in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game.

Jimenez said that one of his primary goals this season is to be more efficient and pitch deeper into games. He's failed to achieve this objective through his first five spring starts. The 33-year-old walked two batters, had three full counts and threw 27 pitches in just the first inning Tuesday. If Jimenez has any fantasy value left in the tank, then it would be extremely minimal and for deep AL-only leagues only.

News
Trumbo admitted to feeling frustrated with his spring performance, but he's confident that a minor adjustment will get him "rolling," Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Trumbo, who signed a three-year deal this offseason to remain in Baltimore, is hitting a measly .162 (6-for-37) with just one extra-base hit (a double back on March 5). "The results haven't been there," Trumbo said. "I've been through things like this more times than I can count in my career, and it's something that will improve." Expecting the slugger to repeat last season's performance -- one in which he led MLB with 47 homers -- is a bit bullish, but owners shouldn't worry about a savvy veteran like Trumbo based on unimpressive spring stats.

News
Hardy has fully recovered from the back injury that sidelined him during the first half of spring training, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

The shortstop hasn't dealt with any setbacks, such as spasms or tightness, since returning to game action on Mar. 13. When asked how he felt Sunday morning, Hardy replied, "As good as I have in a long time." The 12-year veteran has logged 23 at-bats this spring (his goal is to get at least 40 before Opening Day) and hit his first Grapefruit League home run Saturday night against the Twins. Hardy launched 77 longballs during his first three seasons in Baltimore (2011-13), but has failed to hit the double-digit mark in any year since then. Although the 34-year-old isn't nearly as productive as he once was, Hardy still brings a level of production worthy of owning in deep leagues.

Rickard is likely to lead off against left-handed pitchers this season, PressBox.com reports.

Rickard is hitting .349 this spring with three home runs. He looks set to begin the season in a platoon with Hyun Soo Kim in left field. Rickard will get fewer at-bats as the right-handed hitter in the platoon.

News
Schoop returned to Orioles camp on Wednesday after playing for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic, Rich Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Schoop played in all seven of his team's WBC games, managing a .222/.300/.333 slash line over 27 at-bats. Despite the pedestrian numbers, the 25-year-old showed what he's capable of by going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in the Netherlands' second-round loss to Japan. Schoop will enter his fifth MLB season (fourth as a starter) looking to build off 2016's breakout campaign. The second baseman has emerged as one of the best power hitters at his position. On the other hand, Schoop lacks plate discipline (3.2 percent walk rate in 2016) and must improve upon last year's 21.2 percent strikeout rate in order to take the next step in his career.

Flaherty will play in his first game since March 13 on Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.

Flaherty has missed a good amount of spring dealing with shoulder and arm issues, playing in just 10 games and going 3-for-25 (.120) in camp. Barring any further setbacks, the 25-year-old is slated to open the season as the Orioles' primary backup infielder.

News
Wright has been working to adjust his arm slot to throw more over the top and create more break on his pitches, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Wright's current arm slot is lower three-quarters which can sometimes lead to spinning the ball rather than getting the desired break on pitches. He is one of the remaining options to fill the shoes of starter Chris Tillman (shoulder) in the Opening Day rotation. The team prefers not to bounce the right-hander between the bullpen and the rotation like it has over the past two seasons. However, with major adjustments in the works, Wright could begin the year honing his adjustments at Triple-A Norfolk.

Finger - Expected to be out until at least Apr 28 (Updated - 3/25/17)
News
Bourn's timetable to return from a broken finger has been pushed back to late April "at the earliest," Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.

The veteran outfielder broke his right index finger earlier in the spring but was initially targeting a return within the first couple weeks of the season. However, after visiting a hand specialist Friday, Bourn's timetable has since been pushed back. With Bourn on the shelf for most of the first month of the season, the Orioles will be short on depth in center field options behind Adam Jones.

Kim is likely to bat leadoff against right-handed pitchers this season, PressBox.comreports.

Kim is hitting .255 this spring (13-for-51) after struggling early in camp. He'll platoon in left field with Joey Rickard.

News
Miley, who was scratched from his last start due to illness, threw on Thursday's off-day and could make his next start in a minor league game, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

Manager Buck Showalter said the lefty was fatigued toward the end of his throwing session, so maybe Miley isn't quite 100 percent just yet. Either way, it was a positive sign to see the 30-year-old back at work. Miley should have time to squeeze in at least one more Grapefruit League outing to go along with a minor league start before Opening Day.

News
O'Day has allowed just one run on four hits while assembling an impressive 10:1 K:BB through six Grapefruit League innings.

Manager Buck Showalter took a reserved approach in rolling out the veteran this spring, but O'Day has been strong in his six appearances. In his first four seasons with Baltimore (2012-2015), the submarine right-hander managed a 1.92 ERA and 0.94 WHIP over 263 innings. O'Day had his 2016 campaign was plagued by injuries, but the 34-year-old appears ready to rebound with Opening Day quickly approaching.
