Marlins starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco struck out 11 in eight-plus innings of a 2-1 win Sunday against the Diamondbacks. Nolasco was going for the complete-game shutout, but he was pulled in the ninth after allowing a leadoff double to Didi Gregorius, who would scored two batters later.

Nolasco (3-5), whose career-high for strikeouts in a game is 16, allowed a run on five hits and a walk. He threw 74 of 110 pitches for strikes. The right-hander had lost three straight starts coming entering Sunday.

"Good command of all the pitches," Nolasco said, per the Sun-Sentinel. "The curveball was really good today, so that helped a lot. I was able to spin it pretty much whenever I wanted to and (Jeff) Mathis did a good job of realizing that and we used it very well."

Nolasco will next start Saturday against the Chicago White Sox. Nolasco is 7-10 with a 5.35 ERA in 19 career interleague starts.

Cardinals reliever Edward Mujica recorded his 13th save Sunday against Milwaukee.

Mujica sent the Brewers down in order in the ninth to finish off the win. Mujica's excellent control continues to power him -- he has allowed just one walk in 19 innings, one of the main drivers behind his 1.42 ERA.

Marlins reliever Mike Dunn finished Sunday's 2-1 win after closer Steve Cishek struggled to get the job done in the ninth inning. Dunn came on after Cishek allowed a single and a walk with two outs.

Dunn walked the bases loaded before getting pinch hitter A.J. Pollock to ground out to shortstop to end the threat. It was Dunn's first 2013 save and second career save.

Mets catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud will be re-evaluated in two weeks to determine whether he can begin baseball activities.

d'Arnaud will have to rehab before joining Triple-A Las Vegas. There's been talk about people within the organization that d'Arnaud won't be up until after the All-Star break, even if he's ready, according to MetsBlog.com.

With d'Arnaud expected out, John Buck has a good chance to stick with the team for the entire season. He was thought to be a prime trade candidate earlier in the year.

Marlins starter Alex Sanabia pitched well Monday and earned a win over Philadelphia.

With the Phillies' offense struggling, Sanabia improved to 3-6 on the year with a 4.56 ERA. He allowed one run on seven hits and a walk over 6 1/3 innings.

The only mistake Sanabia made was allowing a solo homer to Domonic Brown in the second inning. He struck out three.

The 24-year-old had lost five straight starts before earning his third win Monday. He'll look to start a winning streak when he next takes the mound Sunday during an interleague series in Chicago.

News
With Austin Jackson hurt and Andy Dirks out of the lineup, Tigers second baseman Omar Infante took over the leadoff spot Sunday against the Rangers.

"When you lead him off, you're leading him off because he's your only guy in that situation," manager Jim Leyland told MLB.com. "Normally, I wouldn't have him leading off but, with the situation we're in, if you look at the lineup, who else would you lead off? ... The only other guy you'd think about is [Avisail] Garcia, and I don't want to do that."

Infante finished 2 for 5 with two runs scored in an 11-8 defeat. He is hitting .313 with three home runs and 14 RBI in 144 at-bats.
