Braves' Eric O'Flaherty: Poised to win bullpen spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

O'Flaherty struck out two in a perfect inning of relief during Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.

The 32-year-old lefty's now got a 1.86 ERA and 14:2 K:BB through 9.2 spring innings and while he'll still need to be added to the Braves' 40-man roster, O'Flaherty has done more than enough to win a spot in their bullpen. Injuries have limited his innings and effectiveness in recent years, but if he can re-discover the form that allowed him to rack up 60 holds between 2011-12 for Atlanta he could work his way back into a high-leverage role.

Braves' Julio Teheran: Tosses 88 pitches Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teheran gave up two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.

He escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning by striking out Jose Iglesias and Tyler Collins and for the most part Teheran looked ready for the regular season, throwing 59 of his 88 pitches for strikes. The 26-year-old will make one more spring start against minor leaguers before his Opening Day assignment for the Braves.

Braves' Armando Rivero: Not yet cleared to throw
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rivero (shoulder) hasn't been cleared to throw yet, Mark Bowman of reports.

The report runs contrary to a statement given by manager Brian Snitker a few weeks ago, but it appears Rivero is still dealing with soreness suffered in the Venezuelan Winter League. The Rule 5 draft pick has posted intriguing numbers in the minors over the past few seasons, including a 2.13 ERA and a 105:35 K:BB ratio with Triple-A Iowa last year, though it seems he will begin 2017 recovering from the nagging ailment.

Braves' Mauricio Cabrera: Won't throw for few days
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cabrera (elbow) will refrain from throwing for a few days, Mark Bowman of reports.

The news further indicates the likelihood that Cabrera begins the season on the DL. The right-hander is coming off a stellar rookie season in which he posted a 2.82 ERA over 41 games and quickly established himself as a nice reliever in the Braves' bullpen. Unfortunately, it appears his 2017 campaign will be temporarily sidelined until he returns to full health.

Braves' Julio Teheran: Making final spring start Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Teheran's Friday start will be his last Grapefruit League outing this year, and his final warm-up game will come against minor leaguers sometime next week, Mark Bowman of reports.

Atlanta's Opening Day starter will be handled carefully the week before he kicks off the season. Teheran has twirled an ERA of 3.21 or lower in three of his first four full MLB seasons and looks primed to sit near the top of many fantasy rotations in 2017.
