Orioles' Brad Brach: Undergoes minor knee surgery
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brach underwent a minor knee surgery on October 11 to remove a small tear in his left meniscus, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Brach said that the procedure was very minor and that he is already feeling "close to 100 percent already", so this should be of no concern to anyone. The reliever will likely be back on track for his normal offseason routines in the near future and completely healthy for spring training.

Orioles' Paul Janish: Outrighted to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Janish cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, the Baltimore Sun's Eduardo Encina reports.

He could have declined the assignment and elected free agency, but Janish decided to remain in the organization. Look for him to offer organizational infield depth in 2017.

Orioles' D.J. Stewart: Strong start to Arizona Fall League
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stewart went 3-for-5 with a double and a walk in Tuesday's game for Peoria in the Arizona Fall League.

While enjoying a promotion from Low-A to High-A this season, Stewart hit just .254 between the two levels. Baltimore's 2015 first round selection had a strong BB/K of 0.72 and he had a .377 OBP as a result. He still has a way to go as a hitter and he hit just 10 home runs this past season. At this point Stewart could become a starter down the line or he could be a fourth outfielder for the Orioles one day.

Orioles' Tanner Scott: Throws two innings in Arizona Fall League
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scott allowed a run in two innings for Peoria of the Arizona Fall League Tuesday.

Scott used a fastball clocked at 97-99 mph for the vast majority of his 30 pitches, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports. He threw up to 100 mph in the Arizona Fall League last year, which turned the heads of a lot of scouts. Scott served as a reliever at High-A and Double-A this season. He missed plenty of bats, ringing up 81 strikeouts in 64.1 innings. But that number came at the price of 57 walks. If Scott can learn to control his stuff, he could be a strong bullpen arm in the future.

Orioles' Paul Janish: Designated for assignment Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Janish was designated for assignment Friday.

The Orioles needed room on the 40-man roster after claiming Jed Bradley off waivers, and Janish ended up being the odd man out. The utility infielder split time between Triple-A and the majors in 2016, although he didn't find much success at either level. He'll likely act as organizational depth if he sticks with Baltimore, but there's a decent chance that he could land with a big league club looking for infield depth.
