Indians' Andrew Miller: Will return to setup role
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Miller will return to a setup role this season as Cody Allen remains the closer, Chris Assenheimer of the Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Miller served well in a setup role last season as part of a deadly combination with Allen. Acquired from the Yankees at the trade deadline, the tall left-hander posted a 1.55 ERA and a 0.55 WHIP over 26 games, helping Cleveland capture the AL pennant. Miller's numbers will obviously make him a top reliever in some formats, but it's unlikely he will be able to rack up saves on a consistent basis.

Indians' Cody Allen: Will remain closer
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Allen will remain the closer for Cleveland this year as Andrew Miller returns to the setup role, Chris Assenheimer of the Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Manager Terry Francona said he still likes the idea of having Allen as the end point in the bullpen. Hence, despite the luxury of having Andrew Miller for a full season, it appears there won't be any changes from the order that won the AL pennant last year. Allen converted 32 saves in 35 opportunities in 2016 and proved deadly against right-handers, compiling a .139 BAA. With Miller in front of him to protect the lead, expect continued success from the closer.

Indians' Michael Brantley: Advancing in rehab program
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantley (shoulder) has advanced to the soft-toss stage of his hitting program, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

It's another step in the long recovery journey for Brantley, who still hopes to be ready for Opening Day. The coaching staff is being precautionary with the rehabilitation process and there haven't appeared to be any setbacks at this point in time. However, until there's a firmer timetable in place, it's hard to pinpoint when he'll return to live game action.

Indians' Lonnie Chisenhall: Will open season in platoon role
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Chisenhall is slated to platoon with Brandon Guyer in right field this season, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Surprisingly, the defending AL Champions have one of the most unsettling outfield situations in the majors. The health of Michael Brantley (shoulder) will ultimately decide how the pieces of the puzzle fall. If Brantley isn't ready for Opening Day, Guyer may move to left, leaving Chisenhall alone in right. Chisenhall had a career year last season, but the 27-year-old's poor plate discipline (5.5 percent walk rate) and lack of power (.153 ISO) make him susceptible to losing at-bats in 2017.

Indians' Brandon Guyer: Will take reps across entire outfield this spring
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Guyer, who is slated to open the season in a right-field platoon with Lonnie Chisenhall, will take reps in center and left field this spring, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Guyer's best chance to start on Opening Day is actually in left field, and that would only happen if Michael Brantley (shoulder) isn't ready to go. Outside of that, Guyer will compete with Chisenhall, Tyler Naquin and Abraham Almonte for playing time, the latter two of which will start the season in a center-field platoon. None of the Indians' outfielders are locked into full-time role at this point, meaning Guyer will have more than a fair chance to surpass his career high of 332 at-bats (with Tampa Bay in 2015) if he can separate himself from the field.
