Rockies' Stephen Cardullo: Clubs homer in return from Double-A DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cardullo (wrist) went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in his return from the disabled list with Double-A Hartford on Thursday.

Cardullo broke his wrist back in May, but he came back with a bang after a two-month absence. Wrist injuries sometimes sap power, but it doesn't to be too much of a concern in this instance. Cardullo will continue to act as organizational depth in the Rockies' organization while he's healthy.

Rockies' Tyler Chatwood: Tosses bullpen session
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Chatwood (calf) completed a live bullpen session prior to Friday's game against the Pirates, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Chatwood continues to ramp up his efforts while recovering from a calf strain that forced him to make a trip to the disabled list this past Sunday. The right-hander was able to throw over "two innings" of live bullpen, while facing Tony Wolters and Pat Valaika during his first time on the mound since landing on the DL. Chatwood will likely head out on a rehab assignment sometime within the next week, and could return to the fold before the end of the month, barring any setbacks.

Rockies' Mark Reynolds: Takes day off Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Reynolds is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Jenny Cavnar of AT&T SportsNet reports.

Reynolds receives a standard day off after starting the past four games, including an 0-for-6 day with three strikeouts during Wednesday's contest. In his place, Ian Desmond draws the start at first while Gerardo Parra takes over in left.

Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: In Friday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blackmon (leg) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Jenny Cavnar of AT&T SportsNet reports.

Blackmon exited Wednesday's contest after dealing with cramping due to dehydration, but should be fully capable for Friday's series opener at Coors Field. Since the All-Star break, Blackmon has gone 12-for-25 with three home runs and six RBI at the plate.

Rockies' Chad Bettis: Will make third rehab start Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bettis (illness) is scheduled to make his next rehab start at Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports. He's expected to cover four innings and throw around 60 pitches.

It will be the third rehab start overall for Bettis, who pitched for Double-A Hartford on July 13 and 18. Bettis didn't toss more than two innings in either outing, and with the Rockies previously indicating that the right-hander would be deployed as a starter following his return from the 60-day disabled list, it stands to reason that he'll need to build up his pitch count with at least one more rehab start beyond Sunday before an activation would be considered. Bettis has been sidelined all season after he was diagnosed with a recurrence of testicular cancer during spring training.
