Royals' Reymond Fuentes: Placed on 7-day DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Reymond Fuentes (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day disabled list retroactive to April 26 on Thursday .

The Kansas City Royals did not disclose the nature of Fuentes' injury, but he will be sidelined through at least Tuesday. During his stint with the big league club earlier in the season, Fuentes slashed .238/.273/.344 in six games. He was primarily up with the Royals to provide outfield depth with Jarrod Dyson on the disabled list, but now that the Royals' outfield at full strength, Fuentes' path back to the bigs is cloudy for the time being.

Royals' Eric Hosmer: Extends hitting streak to 17 games with three hits, homer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Eric Hosmer went 3-for-4 against the Angels on Wednesday, but his two-run homer in the first-inning accounted for all the Kansas City Royals ' scoring in a 4-2 loss.

That's now 17 consecutive games with a hit for Hosmer, a career-long streak during which he's lifted his average from an early .214 to .333; that said, the counting stats still haven't really been there (just eight RBI and 10 runs) with the Royals' offense as a whole still stuck in first gear. It looks like Hosmer's on track for another strong season, but his power contributions will never fit in with the upper class of first basemen.

Royals' Chris Young: Continues high-strikeout ways, but lands back in loss column
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Chris Young (1-4) held the Angels to only three hits over 5.1 innings Wednesday, but two of them were homers. He walked two, struck out six and allowed three runs en route to a 4-2 loss.

Spring is the season of wonky numbers, and Young's are among the wonkiest of all -- through five starts, he's struck out 26 batters in 25 innings (a career-high rate), but has also been ripped for six homers in that span. Young doesn't typically have swing-and-miss stuff, so it's quite likely we'll see that strikeout rate decline; unfortunately, when hitters have been making contact with his pitches, they've been hitting them hard. That's not a fantasy-friendly formula.

Royals' Jarrod Dyson: Will start in center field Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jarrod Dyson will get the start in center field Wednesday against the Angels, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.

Dyson will start in place of Lorenzo Cain and bat ninth in the order for the Kansas City Royals . Cain has been slumping of late so Dyson will give him the night off as Paulo Orlando gets the start in right. The 31-year-old will likely move back to right field when Cain returns to the lineup in the near future.

Royals' Lorenzo Cain: Out of lineup Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lorenzo Cain is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

The All Star center fielder will be getting his first day off of the season Wednesday amid a 4-for-23 slump over the last week. Jarrod Dyson will slide over to take Cain's place in center on Wednesday while Paulo Orlando starts in right against Nick Tropeano and the Angels. Look for Cain to get back into the lineup when the Kansas City Royals return to action Friday in Seattle.
