Royals' Kyle Zimmer: Struggles in spring debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Zimmer allowed two earned runs and four hits in two innings of work against the Rangers on Sunday.

Sunday was Zimmer's first time taking the mound in a game since undergoing Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery last July, and it did not go particularly well. His velocity dropped steeply in his second of his two innings pitched, but the 25-year-old said after the game that he was not overly concerned about the decrease, and that it was a matter of early-season fatigue more than anything else. Zimmer will look to build up stamina over the course of spring training, as he gears up for what he hopes will be an injury-free season.

Royals' Hunter Dozier: Dealing with minor wrist injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Dozier said Sunday that he has been suffering from a minor left wrist issue that dates back to last August, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

The fact that Dozier is still battling pain in his left wrist can't be something that the Royals exactly like to hear. While the issue appears to be very minor right now, wrist injuries can often be tricky and have the potential to sap power if they intensify. Fortunately for Dozier, he'll have all of spring training to help himself get fully healthy for the regular season.

Royals' Drew Butera: Dealing with sore oblique
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Butera was scratched from Sunday's Cactus League game due to oblique tightness, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

There's no word regarding the severity of Butera's injury, but more information should be available in the coming days. Once he's healthy, Butera will be set to continue his job as the backup to Salvador Perez.

Royals' Kyle Zimmer: Throws bullpen session pain-free
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Zimmer (shoulder) threw his second bullpen session of spring on Tuesday, noting he felt no pain afterwards, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

This is obviously good news for the 25-year-old, who at this point last season was already starting to feel pain and taper off. The Royals are continuing to bring him along slowly, after he failed to pitch more than 65 innings in each of the last three seasons due to injuries. He is set to start his first Cactus League game Sunday.

Royals' Mike Moustakas: Eager to play in games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Moustakas (knee) has been participating in spring training workouts.

Heading into spring training, Moustakas said that he felt as though he was nearing full health after tearing his ACL early in the 2016 campaign. He'd indicated that the club was going to gradually ease him back over the course of their early workouts, but all signs point to the 28-year-old third baseman being ready for action once Opening Day rolls around.
