Salvador Perez still sitting out
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com

Royals catcher Salvador Perez continues to deal with a deep hip bruise and remained out of the lineup Wednesday in Houston. Perez should be available in an emergency.

The Royals have not discussed a possible disabled list stint for Perez as of yet. He is day to day for now and manager Ned Yost believes he'll start Thursday against the Angels, the Kansas City Star reports.

Wade Davis settles for no-decision
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Royals starter Wade Davis endured some command issues as he walked four but did not factor in the decision Tuesday night against the Astros.

Davis served up a three-run home run to Jimmy Paredes in the third inning for his only damage of the night. The right-hander was charged with three runs and eight hits over five innings of work. He struck out five in a 7-3 victory.

Davis has not made it out of the sixth inning in his last three starts. He is 1-1 with a whopping 8.21 ERA over that span. He is scheduled to make his next start Sunday at home against the Angels. He allowed four runs and nine hits over 5 1/3 innings of work in his previous start against the Angels on May 15.

Surprisingly few alternatives for Salvador Perez
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

Salvador Perez owners might want to make a move for A.J. Pierzynski now, just in case Perez's deep hip bruise ends up requiring a DL stint after all. Oh, you play in one of those leagues where Pierzynski wasn't dropped when he went on the DL? That's unfortunate.

But not too surprising. With Miguel Montero, Jonathan Lucroy and Ryan Doumit struggling out of the gate, Jesus Montero getting fewer at-bats than anyone anticipated, and Carlos Ruiz back out of the lineup, what once was a deep position is suddenly quite thin.

Depending on your format, of course. Few Fantasy owners would start a catcher at utility, so it's possible only 10 or 12 are owned in your league. But any more than that, and you might have to resort to the Tyler Flowers-John Jaso-Jason Castro class in place of the Royals catcher. Pick your poison.

Personally, I'd just go with the hot hand.

Jeremy Guthrie's stats now thoroughly corrected
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

Have you looked at Jeremy Guthrie's stats recently? Though clearly one of this season's biggest overachievers just a couple of starts ago, he now has a 3.49 ERA and 1.37 WHIP -- numbers that are well within the realm of possibility for Guthrie, judging by his earlier days with the Orioles.

Just like that, his numbers have corrected themselves. In fact, they might even be due for a correction the other way. Having surrendered seven home runs in his last three starts, he's on pace to give up 51 this season. Granted, he's no stranger to the long ball, but that's just ridiculous.

Taking the good with the bad, if you like what the Royals right-hander has delivered to date, you should stick with him in Fantasy. He has more good starts ahead, just like he has more bad starts ahead.
