Angels' Huston Street: On for spring debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Street (knee) is making his 2017 Cactus League debut Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Coming off a 6.45 ERA during (surprise) an injury-shortened 2016, Street is battling for the closer role with Cam Bedrosian (groin) and Andrew Bailey, among others. His body of work and name recognition may land him the job initially, but it's wise for fantasy players to remain skeptical, especially considering his health issues and the talent Bedrosian boasts when healthy.

Angels' Alex Meyer: Dominates Nats on Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Meyer (4-5) fired seven scoreless innings in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Nationals, allowing just a single hit -- a sixth-inning double by Brian Goodwin -- and a walk while striking out seven.

It was some sweet revenge for Meyer, who was drafted in the first round by the Nats back in 2011 before heading to the Twins in the Wilson Ramos deal a year later. The right-hander has now shut down two dangerous offenses in his last three big-league starts, also one-hitting the Dodgers over six shutout innings back on June 28, and while his control remains erratic Meyer is beginning to justify that draft pedigree. He'll take the mound again next Wednesday in Cleveland.

Angels' Alex Meyer: Recalled prior to Wednesday's start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Meyer was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Meyer will take the mound against the Nationals on Wednesday, marking his first start at the big-league level since July 3, when he took the loss against Minnesota. During 12 starts with the Angels this year, Meyer has posted a 4.18 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP and a 68:41 K/BB. In his place, the team demoted Eduardo Paredes to Salt Lake.

Angels' Eduardo Paredes: Optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Paredes was sent down to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Paredes only appeared in one game since coming up to the big-league team on July 5, tossing two scoreless innings against the Rangers just two days following his promotion. The right-hander heads back to Salt Lake, where he has dominated recently, allowing just five hits and five walks over his last 12 innings of work, as opposed to 19 strikeouts and no runs given up. He could make a return to the bullpen in the near future, but will need opportunities in order to be relevant in the fantasy world.

Angels' Nick Franklin: Out of lineup Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Franklin will get the day off for Wednesday's series finale against the Nationals, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

Franklin receives a breather after starting six of the past seven games, going 1-for-13 at the plate during that span. In his place, Cliff Pennington will man the keystone while batting eighth in the order.
