Dodgers' Corey Seager: Not comfortable with swing yet
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Seager (back) isn't satisfied with the quality of his swing, and he could stay back in Arizona when the team heads to Los Angeles for their final exhibition games later this week, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.

There are no reports of a setback with the shortstop's back, it just sounds like he isn't satisfied with his swing after missing the majority of spring training action. Seager has played in three minor league games this past week, and reportedly felt fine physically. If the Dodgers decide to hold their young star out of Freeway Series, it would simply be to get him more consistent at-bats in minor league camp, rather than a sign that they are planning on placing him on the disabled list to start the season.

Dodgers' Scott Kazmir: Likely won't start season in majors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kazmir (hip) is not likely to open the season with the Dodgers, Andy McCullough of the LA Times reports.

Per the report, manager Dave Roberts "said it 'doesn't make sense' for (Scott) Kazmir to break camp in the rotation. He'll need time in rehab setting to get right." Kazmir's velocity has been down too far from his regular level, which necessitates the aforementioned rehab time. Based on the news, it seems likely that the 33-year-old will open the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City before making his official Dodger debut once he's back to normal.

Dodgers' Scott Van Slyke: Expected to make Opening Day roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Van Slyke is considered the primary backup at first base to Adrian Gonzalez, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

This news opens a path for the 30-year-old to make the Opening Day roster, after it looked like he was being pushed out of a spot in the outfield. Van Slyke should see the occasional spot start at first base or in the outfield against opposing southpaws. He won't hold fantasy value in this projected role, but he could be a punt play option in DFS in those games where he is penciled in the lineup.

Dodgers' Pedro Baez: Opening Day status bleak
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Baez (thumb) will face hitters tomorrow but is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

The Dodgers continue to take a very cautious approach as Baez rehabs his injured thumb. Manager Dave Roberts said that they'd like to see the reliever throw multiple innings before playing in a regular season game. Based on this requirement, it appears more likely than not that Baez will not be ready when Opening Day rolls around and that he may begin the season on the disabled list.

Dodgers' Andrew Toles: Hitting his way into platoon
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Toles is in position to be a left-handed platoon partner in left field along with the right-handed Franklin Gutierrez, Bill Plunkett of the Orange Country Register reports. The 24-year-old went 2-for-4 with a grand slam Saturday against Oakland, raising his spring average to .348.

With Andre Either (back) expected to miss an undetermined amount of time early in the season, Toles is the lone left-handed outfielder remaining. Trayce Thompson and Scott Van Slyke might also be used in left field, per manager Dave Roberts, but he's not ready to make any decisions. One thing is certain, Roberts has made it clear that he doesn't want Gutierrez facing right-handed pitchers, so there's some at-bats available.
