Francisco Rodriguez open to re-signing with Brewers
by Igor Mello |

Francisco Rodriguez told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel after Sunday's season finale against the Cubs that he would be open to re-signing with the Brewers.

"I definitely know where I want to be. I want to be here," Rodriguez said. "But it is not my decision. There are a lot of things the front office has to do over the course of the winter. They know how I feel. My heart is going to always be here."

Rodriguez, who will be a free agent heading into the 2015 season, converted 44 of 49 save chances, with a 3.04 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP and 73:18 K:BB ratio over 68 innings. He currently sits in 10th place on the all-time saves list with 348.

Ryan Braun set for thumb surgery Thursday
by R.J. White |

Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun will undergo a minimally invasive surgical procedure Thursday in Los Angeles, the Journal Sentinel reports. It'll be the first time a cryotherapy prodecure has been done on the thumb of a baseball player.

"It has been the plan for a while," Braun said. "The plan all along has been to find the least invasive option that we felt like would give me the best chance to get the closest to 100%. I don't feel like I need to be at 100% to be one of the best players in the game, but I've got to be at 80-90%. I have to be able to use my top hand in my swing to feel like I can do the things I'm used to doing and capable of doing."

"I wanted to do it when we were in L.A. (in mid-August) because that's where we're going to do it. I thought maybe if we could do it then, it would help me get through the rest of this season and finish strong. But we don't know, because they haven't done this on a baseball player. So, everybody was worried, not knowing what the side effects potentially could have been. But, based on what we've been told, we don't think there's going to be a lot of down time."

Braun has been unable to properly grip a bat due to an ongoing nerve issue in the thumb.

"This type of procedure has been successful with other parts of the body," assistant general manager Gord Ash said. "Never on a thumb, but it's worth a try. Our understanding is that there is no downside to it; that it can't make it worse."

Ryan Braun will undergo thumb procedure Thursday
by Igor Mello |

Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun is expected to have a cryotherapy procedure performed by specialist on his injured thumb in Los Angeles on Thursday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Saturday.

"It has been the plan for a while," Braun said. "The plan all along has been to find the least invasive option that we felt like would give me the best chance to get the closest to 100 percent."

Braun had been bothered by a nerve issue with his right thumb, which has made it difficult for him to grib a bat this season. He is hitting .268 with 19 homers and 81 RBI over 527 at-bats in his first season back from a PED suspension.

Jonathan Lucroy goes hitless in fifth straight game Friday
by R.J. White |

Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy went 0 for 5 in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Cubs.

Lucroy has delivered a fine offensive season, but he's hit a speed bump over the past week, going 0 for 17 in his last five games (though also walking five times during that stretch). However, before his recent cold spell, the catcher hit .357/.444/.443 in 70 September at-bats. Lucroy has hit .296/.369/.461 with 13 home runs, 68 RBI and a league-leading 52 doubles in 577 at-bats.
