National League All Star reserves, pitchers, Final Vote candidates named

The National League All Star reserves and pitchers were announced on Monday evening, and there was no room for the reigning National League MVP.

Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw was not selected for the All Star team, although he's one of five candidates to take the final spot on the roster in the Final Vote. 

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant made the team as an injury replacement for the Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton. Bryant is one of two rookies on the team, along with Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson

The Pirates sent two starting pitchers to the All Star team for the first time since 1960. MLB wins leader Gerrit Cole and fellow Pittsburgh starter A.J. Burnett will both be making their first appearance.

Brewers expected to activate Khris Davis on Tuesday

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Monday that outfielder Khris Davis is likely to be activated for Tuesday's game against the Braves, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Davis has been sidelined since May 30 after undergoing knee surgery.

Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez is ready to try to help his team extend an eight-game winning streak Monday against Atlanta. He is in the lineup after missing the game Sunday with a wrist injury sustained on a hit-by-pitch.

Gomez has scored eight runs during the eight-game hitting streak.

Brewers' Tyler Cravy set to replace injured Matt Garza in rotation

Brewers rookie Tyler Cravy will make his second career start Tuesday against the Braves in place of Matt Garza, who was placed on the disabled list Monday due to a shoulder injury.

Cravy was recalled from the minors on Friday and made a relief appearance that day against the Reds. He allowed one run on three hits and one walk in two innings. He threw 39 pitches.

The right-hander made his MLB debut June 2 at St. Louis. He took the loss in a 1-0 defeat, but he pitched well in his first career start, allowing one run on four hits and two walks in seven innings. He struck out six and threw 87 pitches.

RP Corey Knebel already back with Brewers

The Brewers recalled reliever Corey Knebel from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Monday after placing starting pitcher Matt Garza (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list.

Knebel was optioned to the minors on Friday after posting a 2.95 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 19 relief appearances for Milwaukee. He has 19 strikeouts and seven walks in 21 1/3 innings.
