Brewers' Braun has favorable history against Reds' Marquis
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun finally connected for his first home run of the season Monday against the Reds. Still, despite the home run, Braun has gotten off to a slow start in 2015.

Although, he might be able to keep the momentum of Monday's performance going Tuesday.

On the hill for Cincinnati will be veteran right-hander Jason Marquis. Braun has fared pretty well against Marquis in his career. He is batting .520 (13 for 25) with one home run, five doubles, six RBI, three walks and three strikeouts against Marquis.

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com

Brewers right fielder Ryan Braun went 1 for 4 at the plate in Milwaukee's 6-1 loss to the Reds Monday. Braun was kept quiet by starter Anthony DeSclafani, but found success in the ninth on Burke Badenhop. He ripped the first shot he saw from Badenhop over the center field wall for his first home run of the year.

Braun is now hitting .238 with three RBI in 42 at-bats this season.

Brewers pitcher Wily Peralta allows six runs in losing effort Monday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com

Brewers pitcher Wily Peralta allowed six runs on eight hits in Milwaukee's 6-1 loss to the Reds Monday.

Peralta worked efficiently through his first five innings of work before finding trouble in the sixth. He allowed the first three runs to reach base safely in the inning before getting Marlon Byrd to ground into an out at home plate. Then, Brayan Pena hit a sacrifice fly to center to bring in the first run of the game.

Then, Zack Cozart opened the flood gates with a three-run home run over the left field wall, driving in Byrd and Jay Bruce. Peralta also allowed a two-run shot to Joey Votto in the seventh before being pulled in the eighth.

"It's hard to believe with the stuff he had today that he ends up with six runs against him," Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said.

Peralta, now 0-2, boasts a 5.68 ERA and will look for his first win of the year Saturday against the Cardinals.

Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy leaves game with toe injury
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy was forced to leave Monday's game against the Reds after taking a foul tip off his left foot, the team announced.

Lucroy was replaced by Martin Maldonado at catcher. Lucroy was 0 for 3 in the game before suffering the injury.

"I can't do anything about it. I have to wait for it to heal up," Lucroy said, per MLB.com. "Freak thing. You guys saw it. I don't know what else to say about it other than I have to overcome it, deal with it."

After the game, the Brewers announced Lucroy will be placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a broken left toe and the team will call up catcher Juan Centeno

"I've been hit a million times on my feet," Lucroy said. "I was just talking to 'Maldy' about it and he said the same thing: That's the first time I've ever seen a catcher break their toe. It had to be me. It's about par for the course right now."
