Brewers SP Wily Peralta leaves Friday's start with tightness in side
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

Brewers pitcher Wily Peralta was forced to exit Friday's start against the Braves with tightness in his left side, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

"Just trying to push it, it probably would get worse," Peralta said after the game, per MLB.com. "I don't want to miss any time."

Peralta pitched four scoreless innings before leaving with the injury. He left with a 9-0 lead, but received a no-decision. He allowed one hit while walking two batters and striking out two.

"It was precautionary on my part more than anything," manager Craig Counsell said of his decision to pull Peralta. "I think he's in pretty good shape. We'll know more [Saturday]."

His next scheduled start was set for Wednesday against the Giants.

Brewers RP Will Smith suspended eight games, will appeal
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Brewers left-hander Will Smith has been suspended eight games by Major League Baseball. Smith is being disciplined for having a foreign substance on his arm during Thursday's game against the Braves.

Smith will appeal the suspension, MLB announced, meaning he should be available for Friday's game. He was ejected from the game on Thursday in the seventh inning when Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez noticed the substance and asked the officials for Smith's removal.

Rival teams looking to struggling Brewers for possible deals
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

With the Brewers looking more and more like eventual sellers, rival teams are saying pitchers Matt Garza and Kyle Lohse have limited trade value, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

Early on, teams seem to be preferring Lohse due to his pending free agency at the end of the season, and his excellent clubhouse presence. Both pitchers have struggled this season, each with an ERA over 5.00 in nine starts.

Heyman also notes that teams are unsure if the Brewers would consider trading young shortstop Jean Segura, who is currently on the disabled list with a broken finger. There seems to also be uncertainty whether catcher Jonathan Lucroy or outfielder Carlos Gomez would be available, though Gomez would probably be the most likely to go since his contract is up after the 2016 season.
