Twins SP Ricky Nolasco (ankle) will not start Friday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Twins starter Ricky Nolasco has been ruled out for his next start on Friday against the Brewers. Nolasco, who left his last start on Sunday with ankle soreness, underwent an MRI which showed no structural damage in his ankle and he is hoping to avoid the disabled list, according to the Pioneer Press

"He had an old injury in there that was causing some impingement," manager Paul Molitor said, per MLB.com. "Every time he everted with his right foot and pushed off that rubber, he was getting a lot of pain. The trainers feel that they have a fairly good chance of getting him back on track rather quickly. And maybe he can avoid the DL.

"We thought three days of treatment before he got on the mound. If he's good, we'll see where to slate him in here as we go forward through the Milwaukee series."

The team has not indicated whether Nolasco would be able to make his next turn in the rotation, which would come on June 10 against the Royals.

Twins-Red Sox postponed Monday due to rain
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Monday's game between the Red Sox and Twins has been postponed due to rain.

The game is scheduled to be made up on Wednesday as part of a doubleheader. Clay Buchholz and Mike Pelfrey were scheduled to take the mound on Monday, and both will presumably be pushed back a day to start Tuesday. Phil Hughes and Rick Porcello, who are scheduled for action Tuesday, will likely pitch on Wednesday along with Trevor May and Eduardo Rodriguez.

The Red Sox will throw Rodriguez in Game 1 of the doubleheader, while Porcello will pitch Game 2, per the Boston Globe. Steven Wright will take the mound for the Red Sox on Thursday.

Twins' Danny Santana still looking for first homer of 2015
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Twins shortstop Danny Santana went hitless in three at-bats in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays and closes May without hitting a single home run in 2015.

Santana owns just a .549 OPS on the season but has been particularly brutal in recent weeks, hitting .141/.167/.219 in 64 at-bats over his last 19 games, a stretch that featured no multihit efforts by the shortstop. Despite his offensive shortcomings, the Twins went 20-7 in May to seize first place in the AL Central.

Twins' Brian Dozier doubles twice, scores three runs Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Twins second baseman Brian Dozier went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three runs scored in his team's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Dozier opened the first inning with a double and was eventually driven home on a sacrifice fly. He struck out in his next at-bat before knocking another double to open the sixth, scoring on a single later the inning. The second baseman then singled with a man on in the seventh inning and scored the decisive run of the game on a double by the next batter.

Dozier closed April with a .671 OPS but picked things up in May, posting a .287/.355/.630 line with seven home runs and 15 RBI in 108 at-bats during the month. He's hit nine homers in 190 at-bats through the end of May, putting him on pace to topple last season's career-best total of 23.
