The New York Mets, based in Flushing, N.Y., participate in Major League baseball (MLB) and are a member of the National League East Division. The Mets were founded in 1962. As of Opening Day 2009, the Mets will play home games at Citi Field, which was built adjacent to the original Shea Stadium. The club has won two World Series Championships (1969,1986).
