Yankees' Tyler Wade: Getting reps in center field
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wade is getting his first start in center field in the Arizona Fall League on Friday, LoHud's Chad Jennings reports.

It has been obvious for a while now that Wade, a shortstop by trade, would have to switch positions or be a utility player if he remained in the Yankees system. Didi Gregorius is under contract through 2019 and Gleyber Torres is a superior shortstop prospect, so the Yankees are making sure Wade is comfortable, not only at second base, where he has more than 80 games of professional experience, but in the outfield.

Yankees' CC Sabathia: Undergoes knee surgery
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

The Yankees announced that Sabathia underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery for a routine cleanup Tuesday.

Sabathia was not dealing with any sort of serious knee injury, but with a few months to recover during the offseason, it was determined that he would go under the knife in order to fix whatever damage he was dealing with. The Yankees did not reveal how long Sabathia will need to recover from the procedure, but the team does expect him to be ready for the beginning of spring training.

Yankees' Greg Bird: Activated off DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bird (shoulder) was activated off the 60-day DL on Monday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Bird missed the entire season after undergoing shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum in February, but he's been slowly ramping up activity lately and was able to take batting practice in September. The 23-year-old is hoping to make up for the lost season by playing in the Arizona Fall League. With the retirement of Mark Teixeira, Bird enters the offseason as the team's likely starting first baseman next season.

Yankees' Donovan Solano: Outrighted to minors
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Solano was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.

Solano spent the majority of the season in the minors, but did get a September call-up and saw somewhat regular at-bats down the stretch with injuries to players ahead of him on the depth chart. The 28-year-old has been up and down between the majors and minors over the past two years and has mostly been used as a utility-infield option, so he figures to assume a similar role in 2017.
