Yankees' Jacoby Ellsbury: Out of the lineup Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Ellsbury is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles.

After starting the first two games of the series, Ellsbury will get a regular day off in favor of Aaron Hicks in center field. The veteran will likely look to build on a four game hitting streak in Monday's series opener against the Royals.

Yankees' Starlin Castro: Smacks four hits in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Castro went 4-for-6 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's win over the Orioles.

It was a big day for the entire Yankee offense, as the club scored at least 13 runs for the second game in a row, and Castro was a big part of the damage as his home run helped spark the rally that took a close lead and made it more of a blowout. The second baseman now has consecutive three-hit games, and is enjoying his best month of the season with a .323 average and seven long balls in August.

Yankees' Aaron Hicks: Big day at the plate Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hicks went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's win over the Orioles.

Hicks has managed to maintain essentially an everyday role in the Yankees outfield, and though the emergence of prospect Aaron Judge threatened to eat into his playing time, the 26-year-old has managed to have his most productive month in August. On the month, he's hitting .310 with four of his seven home runs on the season, so his bat figures to continue being in the lineup most games.

Yankees' Chad Green: Fails to record win after brief start
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Green (2-3) yielded four runs on seven hits, walked four, and struck out four over 4.2 innings in Saturday's win over the Orioles, but did not factor in the decision.

Giving up the long ball hurt Green the most in this game, as he allowed three homers (two to Chris Davis, one to Mark Trumbo). Although the Yankees scored 9 runs in the first five innings (compared to Baltimore's four), Green didn't receive the win. The 25-year-old has pitched particularly well through four starts in August (2.30 ERA), and has an exceptional strikeout rate (10.30 K/9) and solid 1.22 WHIP overall this year. Hopefully the young righty learned from this outing, since he faces the Orioles again in his next scheduled start Friday, this time in Baltimore.

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Uses home-field advantage for 11th home run
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a home run and two walks in Saturday's win over the Orioles.

The rookie's opposite-field homer bounced off the top of the outfield wall and into the stands to give him an even .400 average. The 23-year-old also flashed some defense by throwing out a runner trying to steal second base. To emphasize both his outstanding performance in August, as well as the lack of available production at his position, Sanchez already ranks near the top-15 at catcher in standard mixed leagues despite having played only one month this year.
