Yankees' Chase Headley: Back issue resurfaces
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Headley was held out of Saturday's game with the back issue that cost him three games earlier in the week, LoHud.com reports.

Headley's back had acted up earlier in the week, and though he was able to return and start the team's past two tilts, he went 0-for-7 with three strikeouts in that span. Manager Joe Girardi indicated his third baseman didn't mention the back flaring up again, but the skipper suggested the 32-year-old didn't look 100 percent healthy in his two games back. After getting an extra day off, Headley will look to return to the lineup Sunday for the series finale against the Blue Jays.

Yankees' Starlin Castro: Takes batting practice Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Castro (hamstring) was able to take batting practice on the field prior to Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, LoHud.com reports.

Manager Joe Girardi had previously indicated it was unlikely Castro would return during the weekend set, and while that outlook may still hold true, it's an encouraging sign that the second baseman was able to hit on the field after he was also able to take swings in a cage Friday. If he does indeed remain out for the remainder of the Toronto series, Castro's next chance to slot back into the lineup will come Monday against the Red Sox.

Yankees' CC Sabathia: Stellar over seven in Saturday no-decision
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sabathia fired seven innings of scoreless, four-hit ball in a Saturday no-decision versus the Blue Jays. He walked three and also recorded a pair of strikeouts.

The ageless southpaw was outstanding while shutting down one of the most potent lineups in baseball. Sabathia has now posted scoreless performances in two of his last three trips to the mound, but now has four straight no-decisions overall. He'll face off with the Red Sox next Thursday in his final start of the regular season.

Yankees' Mark Teixeira: Out with sore neck
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Teixeira was held out of Saturday's lineup with neck soreness, LoHud.com reports.

Teixeira also missed Friday's tilt with the lingering issue, but he was able to enter Saturday's game as a defensive replacement in the ninth inning. Heading into the final week of his major league career, the Yankees will likely try to get the 36-year-old back into the lineup a few times before he hangs it up, but it's possible they'll play it cautiously and give the soreness in his neck an extra day or two to completely subside.

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Stays hot with two more hits Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a double in Friday's 9-0 loss to the Blue Jays.

It was a miserable night overall for the Yankees offense, but Sanchez seems to be virtually immune to any struggles at the moment. The two-hit effort was his fourth multi-hit outing in the last eight games, and also represented the seventh contest overall in which he'd hit safely over that span. Sanchez's stellar rookie season includes a .337/.413/.738 line, along with 19 homers and 38 RBI.
