Yankees' Todd Frazier: Making first start as Yankee
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Frazier is in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners, batting seventh and playing third base.

The recently acquired Frazier will make his first start as a Yankee on Thursday against Felix Hernandez in Seattle. His production in Chicago in the first half was a shadow of his 2016 form when he hit 40 home runs and 98 RBI, but he is should be a significant upgrade at third base for the Yankees overall. In a limited sample, Frazier is 4-for-8 with two home runs off of Hernandez in his career.

Yankees' Chase Headley: Set to see most starts at first base
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Manager Joe Girardi said Wednesday that Headley will receive a "crash course" at first base and likely see most of his starts at the position following the acquisition of Todd Frazier earlier this week, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Frazier, who made an appearance as a pinch hitter Wednesday against the Twins in his Yankees debut, is expected to enter the starting nine at third base for Thursday's series opener against the Twins. Though Frazier has experience at both corner spots, he's more comfortable playing third base, so Headley will move over to the other side of the infield to accommodate the new pickup. Frazier figures to serve in everyday role at the hot corner, so look for the switch-hitting Headley to occupy the strong side of a platoon at first base with the right-handed Garrett Cooper.

Yankees' Todd Frazier: Scheduled to make first start as Yankee
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Frazier is expected to make his first start as a Yankee in Thursday's game against the Mariners, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The newly acquired third baseman made his debut in pinstripes Wednesday as a pinch hitter and appeared in two at-bats, striking out and being hit by a pitch on the hand. His hand is expected to be fine, however, allowing him to start in the series opener in Seattle on Thursday.

Yankees' Ronald Torreyes: Likely heading into reserve role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Torreyes went 0-for-2 Wednesday against the Twins before being lifted for pinch-hitter Todd Frazier in the seventh inning.

Torreyes had been surprisingly decent as an everyday infielder while Starlin Castro was on the shelf, but with him back in action and Frazier now joining the fray, it seems that Torreyes will have very few opportunities to start anymore. Wednesday's performance brought the 24-year-old's batting average down to .283, and although that would normally warrant a spot in the lineup, the lack of power upside will limit him to a bench role while Frazier takes over at third base and Chase Headley moves into a first base platoon.

Yankees' Mike Ford: Returns to action Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ford (hamstring) was activated off the 7-day DL on Tuesday at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Ford was dealing with a bout of hamstring tightness, but the ailment ended up costing him fewer than two weeks. The 25-year-old has hit well in limited playing time at Triple-A, slashing .320/.433/.660 in 13 games. Given the big league club's struggles at first base this year, Ford could eventually be considered for a call-up now that he's healthy.
