Yankees' Brett Gardner: Aims for more stolen bases
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

Gardner will make an effort to be more aggressive on the basepaths in the upcoming season, Brandon Kuty of reports.

After swiping 47 bags in 2010 and then a personal-best 49 in 2011, Gardner hasn't even reached half of that mark in a single season in the five years since, and he was limited to just five stolen bases (seven attempts) in the second half of 2016. Being able to regain that weapon would be a huge plus for the 33-year-old, as there otherwise isn't much there from a fantasy perspective following a 2016 campaign that resulted in just seven home runs and a .261/.351/.362 slash line.

Yankees' Didi Gregorius: Set to join Netherlands in World Baseball Classic
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Gregorius will leave the Yankees' spring training facility Tuesday in order to join Team Netherlands in advance of the World Baseball Classic, Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reports.

Gregorius' role with the team as the starting shortstop is secure, so provided the 27-year-old is able to stay healthy, his departure from the team in the spring shouldn't have much of an impact. He broke out last season with career bests in home runs (20), RBI (70), and batting average (.276), and while that still isn't in the upper echelon of the young shortstop talent that's emerged in recent years, Gregorius should provide a solid option up the middle for fantasy owners.

Yankees' CC Sabathia: Knee no longer an issue
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sabathia reported his knee is "good, no problem at all" following offseason arthroscopic surgery in his right knee, George A. King of the New York Post reports.

The procedure was described as routine and minor in nature, so it appears the 36-year-old lefty is on schedule to move forward without any further restrictions. He'll pitch in two simulated games as part of his normal spring program before making an appearance in an exhibition game, as the veteran will look to build on last season's bounce-back campaign that featured his best ERA (3.91) since 2012 and a return to the 90 mph plateau on his fastball.

Yankees' Adam Warren: Role remains up in the air
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Warren will get a chance to earn a rotation spot in the spring, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

With two rotation spots unaccounted for, Warren will compete with Luis Cessa, Chad Green, Bryan Mitchell, and Luis Severino. The 29-year-old has by far the most experience out of the bullpen among the five though, so the Yankees may be more comfortable deploying the righty in more of a swing role similar to the one he's occupied the past few seasons. Though he's proven to be a valuable piece for the club in that capacity in the past, there won't be much appeal from a fantasy perspective if Warren does indeed wind up back in the bullpen.

Yankees' Chad Green: Healthy and competing for rotation spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Green (elbow) is participating in spring training and will be in the running for a rotation spot, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Green's 2016 campaign was cut short after suffering a UCL sprain and strained flexor tendon in the beginning of September, but he was able to avoid surgery with a combination of rest and rehab over the offseason. He's slated to compete with four other righties for the two final spots in the Yankees' rotation, and Green will get his first chance to prove his case in Monday's spring training game against the Orioles.
